Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, condemned the death of a 20-year-old woman who was hit by a car and dragged for nearly seven kilometres in the capital’s Sultanpuri area. He also demanded that the accused be executed. The five men, who were suspected of being drunk at the time of the incident in the early hours of Sunday, have been arrested for causing death by negligence. “What happened to our sister in Kanjhawala was heinous. “I hope the perpetrators are severely punished,” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi. Later, addressing a press conference, he stated, “The Kanjhawala incident is a rarest of rare crimes; the accused should be handed over.”
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena previously stated that all aspects of the case were being investigated. “My head hangs in shame over the inhuman crime committed in Kanjhawala-Sultanpuri this morning, and I am astounded by the perpetrators’ monstrous insensitivity. I’ve been keeping an eye on things with @CPDelhi, and the accused have been apprehended. All aspects are being thoroughly investigated “He tweeted about it.
The body was discovered naked and with broken limbs, raising the possibility that she had been sexually assaulted and murdered. However, it was later stated that it appeared to be a case of rash and negligent driving. The victim’s family claims she was sexually abused. “It was not an accident at all. What kind of mishap is this when there isn’t a single cloth on my daughter’s body? “We want a thorough investigation,” her mother, Rekha Devi, stated.
In the meantime, the National Commission for Women has written to the Commissioner of Police in Delhi, demanding a fair and timely investigation into the incident. “NCW has also requested that a post-mortem examination be performed to determine whether the victim was sexually assaulted or not, and to invoke relevant provisions in the FIR if the allegations levelled by the victim’s mother are found to be true,” the panel tweeted.
