Sargam Koushal represented India at the Mrs. World 2022 pageant in Las Vegas on Sunday and was crowned the winner, bringing back the crown after 21-years. In the ceremony, Shaylyn Ford of the United States, who won the title in 2021, presented the crown to Sargam. Aditi Govitrikar was the first Indian woman to win the award for India in 2001, and after a 21-years of wait, Sargam has made history once more. The victory is reminiscent of Harnaaz Sandhu’s Miss Universe victory last year when she took home the crown 21 years after Lara Dutta’s big win in 2000.
Sargam, 32, outperformed contestants from 63 countries in a shimmery pink gown with intricate embroidery work and sequins. “The long wait is over, it’s after 21 years we have the CROWN back!” wrote the Mrs. India pageant on Instagram.
“Heartiest congratulations,” Aditi Govitrikar wrote, “so happy the crown is finally back and that I was a part of the journey.”
Sargam’s parents celebrate her victory as Mrs. World 2022. “Sargam’s journey has been full of hard work and dedication. It was the dream of our family that Sargam reaches this platform. Sargam had had this dream since she was a child, but she was hesitant at first. We encouraged him to participate after their marriage, and we were confident that she would bring the crown back to India. She has completed the task. “She is very intelligent, talented, and a good person,” Sargam’s father, GS Koushal, told a news channel after her victory.
Koushal believes that every parent should work hard on their children’s education so that their lives will be better shaped.
“Sargam has worked hard on her dream and she has been confident since an early age. As a child, she was naughty and full of mischief. She enjoyed dressing up in sarees and dresses. “I saw her talent early on,” Sargam’s mother, Meena Koushal, said in an interview.
Sargam chose a shimmery number by Bhawna Rao for the final round, which went perfectly with her winning the crown. The breathtaking ensemble was inspired by the ocean and its unknown secrets. The outfit came with a bold backless pattern and a halter neckline. It was embellished with intricate embroidery and sequins. The front slit gave her outfit that extra edge. Sargam spiced up her look with silver-toned drop earrings, a silver bracelet, and a jewel-studded ring.
