The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai set a new record by handling 1,50,988 passengers on December 10, 2022. The total number of passengers mentioned above included 1,11,441 domestic passengers and 39,547 international passengers, as well as 892 ATMs. This year’s biggest single-day record was set by CSMIA on December 10, 2022, when it served 150988 passengers, breaking its previous record. On February 13, 2021, the most passengers ever recorded during the Covid era were 73,509, who travelled. On December 20, 2019, however, 1,50,276 passengers were counted.
In comparison to the single-day passenger movement of 1,56,329 on December 21, 2018, CSMIA has achieved 97 percent of this traffic number this year. This year, CSMIA also achieved approximately 98 percent of the single-day passenger traffic of 152562, which was recorded on December 22nd, 2017.
Domestic Aviation Operations soared high in the national landscape on December 10, 2022, with 414,114 passengers on 2,798 flights. There were a total of 5,586 flight movements and 827,429 passengers.
To support growing passenger volumes, Mumbai International Airport has launched ‘Passenger Centric’ Key Initiatives. To meet passenger expectations, CSMIA has increased its manpower resources by adding ‘Passenger Service Executives’ along with infrastructural facilities.
DigiYatra will be available soon at Mumbai International Airport Ltd’s (CSMIA) Terminal-2, where the Digi Yatra biometric boarding system will be operational at identified touch points and airlines from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Government of India is leading this project.
