Malaika Arora, an actress and talent show judge, is now a reality star. On the most recent episode of Moving in with Malaika, she attempted standup comedy, with mixed results. During her performance, she roasted everyone, from her sister Amrita Arora to herself.
Malaika begins her act by calling out those who are obsessed with her ‘age,’ according to a clip shared on social media by Disney+ Hotstar. She claims it is not because she is ‘old,’ but because she is aging and ‘looks like this.’ Her trolls were dubbed “Jalkukdi log (jealous people)” by her. “I have moved on, my ex has moved on, When will all of you move on?” she said of her divorce from ex-husband Arbaaz Khan.
She then turned her attention to her sister Amrita Arora. “My sister has arrived!” She is the most amusing. “I am the pretty one,” she declared, eliciting laughter from her audience. “She has a wealthy husband, and I… do standup,” she joked.
Malaika also mentioned her Chaiyaa Chaiyaa song, in which she danced on top of a train and established herself as a Bollywood star. She attributed the ease with which she shot the Dil Se song to being a ‘Thane girl.’ She even wondered if any stand-up comic had any plans to jump on top of a train anytime soon.
On Moving in with Malaika, Malaika has addressed her age difference with her boyfriend Arjun Kapoor, her recent car accident, and even her divorce from Arbaaz Khan. When discussing Arbaaz with Farah Khan, she stated, “I understand how much you adore him. He is a wonderful individual. He allowed me to become the person I am today. I believe that a large part of who I am today is due to him because he allowed me to be who I am.”
Malaika recalled how they split up, saying, “We were swaying. We were both too young. I was quite young. I believe I have also changed. I, too, desired various things in life. That was something I felt was missing in my space, and I needed to move on. I felt the only way I could do that was if I could let go of certainties. Today, I believe we are better people. We love and respect one another for who we are. We both have a child. That is something that will never change. But I believe we are far superior people. I believe we were irritable at the time. People who are easily irritated. We became angry and pessimistic.”
Moving in with Malaika airs Monday through Thursday at 8pm on Disney+ Hotstar.
