Shakti Kapoor has revealed that he considered quitting acting after being slapped repeatedly during a film shoot. Shakti recently appeared on season 3 of the comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show, where he discussed working in the 1980s.
“After that (Satte Pe Satta), I made a film called Mawaali in 1983.” When I was giving my first shot in the film, Kader Khan slapped me hard and I fell to the ground, and then Aruna Irani slapped me and I fell to the ground in the second shot. “It happened for the third time,” Shakti explained. On the show, Shakti was joined by Goofy Paintal, Asrani, and Tiku Talsania.
He then stated that he became upset because he believed his career was over. “K Bapaiah directed the film, and Kader Khan also appeared in it.” I approached Kader Khan and said, ‘I fall at your feet.’ Please reserve my evening ticket. I do not want to be in this movie. My career is over, and I am still not married.” Shakti went on to say that he only stayed in the industry because of Veeru Devgan’s advice.
Shakti also discussed how he got the film. “My first comedy film, Satte Pe Satta, was directed by Goofy Paintal. It was a fantastic film, so when Raj Sippy approached me for a comedy role, I thought, “If I am being praised for my villainous roles, why are they liking me for a comedy?”
Shakti Kapoor has had an impressive career, having ruled the early 1980s and 1990s with his portrayal of both comic and villainous roles. He was most recently seen in the Malayalam film Lucifer, as well as the web series Guilty Minds, which debuted earlier this year.
