Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot accused the media on Monday of “boycotting” the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a day after Raul Gandhi arrived in the state to lead the Congress’ Kanyakumari to Kashmir foot march. He also stepped up his criticism of the BJP, saying the party, which rules the country, is “very concerned” about the grand old party’s initiative to connect with the masses.
“Today, people are supporting the Yatra, and (social media) is as well.” However, the mainstream media continues to boycott it,” Rajasthan Chief Minister said, sharpening his attack. “Our friends are gathered here. But you are not to blame. You send the specifics and information. But I have a question for those who are attempting to obstruct coverage. Will you not show such a lengthy program? The fourth pillar of the state is the media. This is solely based on Rahul Gandhi’s optimistic thoughts. “India will not forgive you.”
“Is it not our duty?” he continued, praising Rahul Gandhi for saying he “is following the path of truth.” He also mentioned activist Medha Patkar’s participation in the Gujarat election foot march, which prompted the attack from PM Narendra Modi.
The Bharat Jodo Yatra arrived in Gujarat on Sunday evening after traveling over 2,500 kilometers through seven states. According to Jairam Ramesh of the Congress, nearly 1,200 kilometers of the foot march remain to be completed over the next few weeks.
Following the conclusion of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party intends to conduct the “Hath se Hath Jodo” foot march under Gandhi’s leadership beginning on January 26. The party has stated that it will strengthen ties with the youth.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi is in Rajasthan, weeks after a new controversy rocked the party after Gehlot called Sachin Pilot a “gaddar (traitor)” in an interview with NDTV. However, differences appear to have been resolved, and the party put on a show of unity on Sunday, with Gehlot and Pilot both welcoming Gandhi.
