Several buildings on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus were defaced with anti-Brahmin slogans on Thursday, with photos being shared on social media.
Students claimed that the walls of the School of International Studies-II building had been defaced with anti-Brahmin and Baniya slogans.
The JNU administration did not respond immediately to the incidents. Some of the slogans on the wall are as follows: “Brahmins Leave The Campus,” “There Will Be Blood,” “Brahmin Bharat Chhodo,” and “Brahmino-Baniyas, we are coming for you!” We will exact our revenge.” The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad blamed the vandalism on the left.
“The ABVP condemns communist goons’ rampant vandalism of academic spaces.” The communists scribbled insults on the walls of JNU’s School of International Studies-II building. “They have defaced the chambers of free-thinking professors in order to intimidate them,” said Rohit Kumar, President of the ABVP at JNU.
“We believe that academic spaces should be used for debate and discussion rather than poisoning society and the student community,” Kumar added.
A JNU teachers’ union also issued a statement condemning the vandalism and blaming the “left-liberal gang” for it.
“While the Left-Liberal gang intimidates every dissenting voice, they urge voters to elect European Commission representatives who “can assert the values of mutual respect and civility, as well as equal and just treatment of all.” ‘Civility’ and ‘mutual respect’ What a heinous act of vandalism! “JNU Teachers’ Forum posted on Twitter.
