We all know that Bollywood loves to make sequel films, whether they are a flop or a success. The pressure to create the second half of a masterpiece is difficult, and let us face it, Bollywood has sucked most of the time. However, some rare Bollywood films did a good job of making sequels while not ruining the original for us. Here is a list of films that did well with sequels.
1. Phir Hera Pheri
As we wait for Hera Pheri 3, we can not help but remember how amusing Phir Hera Pheri was. The film was the second installment in the series, and it was safe to say that it made us laugh. It managed to transport us back in time and remind us how fantastic the Paresh-Akshay-Suniel trio was.
2. Drishyam 2
Drishyam is a gripping story about a family who unwittingly becomes involved in a murder, and Vijay Salgaonka goes to any length to save his family. The Drishyam series was a success in every language in which it was released. Drishyam 2, the remake of the original sequel to the Malayalam film, has made a splash at the box office. The film starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu is an excellent suspense thriller that you should not miss.
3. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
The Baahubali series, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, was a work of art that we all enjoyed watching. Since the first installment of the film, all we could think about was “katappa ne bahubali ko kyon mara.” The second installment, which was all about avenging Baahubali’s death, was another box-office success.
4. KGF 2
With its action-packed drama and plot line, KGF 2 caused quite a stir in the industry. The KGF series is well-known for its lavish sets and powerful dialogue. The sequel, like the first, had a gripping storyline and was widely recognized. Not to mention, Yash delivered an outstanding performance and was praised by the janta.
5. Angrezi Medium
The sequel to Hindi Medium, Angrezi Medium, received the same critical acclaim as the first. We adore Irrfan’s character, who defies patriarchal parenting stereotypes by supporting his daughter’s ambitions.
6. Lage Raho Munna Bhai
This film was a sequel to Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and managed to provide us with great comedy while also conveying subtle messages. The duo of Circuit and Munna Bhai was the highlight of this film, as it was in part one.
7. Tanu Weds Manu Returns
Even though the first part of this movie was hilarious and savage, the sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns was more popular with the janta. This sequel, starring Madhavan, Kangana Ranaut, and Jimmy Shergill, proved to be a lucky one for Bollywood.
8. Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2
Anurag Kashyap directed and produced the Gangs of Wasseypur series. Sardar Khan and Faizal Khan, two legendary Bollywood characters, were introduced in this two-part crime drama. The story of Wasseypur was entertaining, with some strong dialogue and slang.
9. Dhoom 2
We all grew up watching the Dhoom series, and the robbery, action, and power-packed dance numbers compelled us to revisit the film. Dhoom 2 was a box office success and one of the highest-grossing films at the time. People praised the film’s casting and the chemistry between Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
