There is no greater loss than watching our favorite sports team be defeated by their rival team, and in each match, one of the two fanbases faces this dejection. Leaving the results aside, doing something on a humanitarian level makes us believe in true sportsmanship.
The FIFA World Cup 2022, which has sparked worldwide interest, is one of the most important football tournaments on the planet.
Needless to say, millions of fans visit football stadiums to watch each match, and after the thrilling matches, the stands in the stadium are littered with food waste, wrappers, and hundreds of cups.
A few fans, on the other hand, decided to take matters into their own hands and clean the entire stadium.
The match between Japan and Germany, which took place at Khalifa International Stadium, was won by the latter by a score of 2-1. Following the game, as expected, Japanese fans were seen picking up trash and cleaning the entire stadium before leaving.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Japanese fans have cleaned the stands during the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Ecuador and Qatar kept their fans on the edge of their seats in their opening match last weekend at Doha’s Al-Bayt Stadium. However, after the game, the stadium was littered with garbage.
And, once again, the Japanese fans decided to stay after the game and clean up the stands themselves. The video, which was shared by content creator Omar Al-Farooq, quickly went viral across multiple social media platforms.
The fans were seen in the videos armed with large garbage bags, picking up several bottles and flags from each row of the stadium. When the content creator asked why they were doing it, the good Samaritans replied:
“We are Japanese, and we do not leave trash behind, and we respect the environment.”
Users liked the video 775.2K times and left hundreds of comments. You can watch the video here:
For the uninitiated, Japanese fans demonstrated this kind gesture four years ago. Following a match between Japan and Colombia during the FIFA World Cup in 2018, netizens were impressed with their willingness to clean the stadium.
A heartfelt thank you to Team Japan and their fans for making the world a better place!
