About Dr. Abdul Salam Khan:
Dr. Abdul Salam Khan is a Gold Medalist in Drawing and Painting and holds an M.Phil and Ph.D. in Visual Arts. A multifaceted persona with a distinctive impressionist painter, an academic, and an amateur writer. He has more than 15 solo and 130 group exhibitions. His last but not the least solo painting exhibition was conducted at the most prestigious and renowned gallery, “Jahangir Art Gallery,” in Mumbai in 2019.

He is the recipient of more than 50 prestigious awards and honors, such as national awards in the form of “Junior Fellowship” by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India; Junior Research Fellowship & Senior Research Fellowship (JRF + SRF) from the Ministry of Minority, Govt. of India; Lalit Kala Academy Award by Odisha State Lalit Kala Academy; State Youth Award by Odisha State Youth and Welfare Ministry; Young Achiever Award by the Institute of Scholars; Swami Vivekanda and Sister Margaret Award by Swami Vivekanda and Sister Margaret Foundation; M.F. Hussain Award by the Indian Royal Academy of Art and Culture, etc.
What are the lessons from the challenges he has faced and how did he overcome them?
He began his art journey in a small town in Odisha, where art resources are scarce and he was not fortunate enough to receive formal education in his respective field of art; he is also a college dropout after 10+2. Despite many hurdles and challenges, his dreams came true due to his determination and self-belief. He got his Ph.D. in Fine Arts and was placed as an Assistant Professor in ASFA at one of the leading universities (Amity University), so his mantra of success is “Failure Is the Key to Success.”
